Operation trek failed , not the fun - Part 2

what happened next has been written in detail by Praveen . we waited for few more minutes to make sure tammaNNa is asleep . We had to get up early morning to have a glimplse of the sunrise , but not everyone were ready for that . Uday promised us that he'll wake us up early morning , as early as 5 AM. we had a nice nap then on and got up early and found that Uday was no where to be seen. Pradeep accompanied us ( Me , vinnyk , Raghu Mama , shyam and Baluchigi). After a small trek we reached the peak to see one of the finest sunrise i had seen


I Felt pity for those who could not make it to this spectacular sunrise . we ate delicious 'avalakki' ( packed from Uday's house ) and some photo session there . Shyam was trying to teach juggling to raghu mama. I am sure Raghu mama will learn that soon and challenge shaym ( shyam watch out ) . We had to trek back now to uday's house .
Now the Big question was , what to do next . When we came back , again we saw thammNNa amidst us. We forcibly made Kulkarni wake up and during breakfast , it was decided that we'll roam around for a while till 2 noon and head back to Bangalore . So we went near the IB and there through some bushes we climbed a small hill to reach a view point , only after reaching there we found out we were attacked by leeches. we decieded that was the end of trek for the day . we came back to Uday's house ( only harish went for a small trek ) , played carrom for a while , took bath there and again played carrom till lunch . And after that , time had come to say good bye to Uday's family. after couple of group photoes , we hopped onto the jeep that would take us back to the place where we had to catch bus for Shivamogga. Once again it was thrilling jeep ride , luckily for us the jeep did not face any problems on the way and few minutes later we were waiting for Bus to Shivamogga. we did'nt had to wait long as we got a bus soon . while traveling in that bus , everyone was thrilled after the news was heard that south africa had lost 6 wickets for less than 100 runs. But soon one more news followed , South africa gave a target of 200+ runs for India to chase . After nice dinner in Shivamogga , we headed towards Railway station . we were happy to see our old friend 'Ram Pa' who was traveling to Bangalore on the same train . We talked for a while before going to sleep. Got up only when we reached Bangalore , where we said good bye to everone with a enthusiasm to meet again for such a venture some time soon . Not to forget Uday and his Family. Speical thanks to them for all the help we got from them.
The title says " Operation trek failed ..." that's because , the original plan was to trek one complete side either from bottom to top or top to bottom of the hill . what ever we had trekked was nothing when compared to the original plan . That made me take the liberty to give such a title, anywez we enjoyed every moment of the time spent there . That was second Major outing from our group and third one is coming soon...........................

Operation trek failed , not the fun - Part 1

Kodachadri , the most awaited place to visit . Had been planing to visit the place for past 7 years and finally the moment had arrived. Vinnyk had sent that mail with selected set of invitee's. few of them turned down the invitation and finally 11 'brave' people were ready for the big one. None of us were ready for the painful but funfilled trek in midst of all the greenery in the world . even while travelling to our first destination ( Shivamogga ) , we were travelling in a AC bus :) .
Early morning we were in shimoga had some tea and headed for our destination 2 ( Saagar ) , we had to change the plan cos we wanted to go in the launch . That was breath taking ride with lone minibus travelling along the road and mist all around , hardly anything could be seen few meters away . In Saagar we had out breakfast 'buns' and boarded the bus which was heading towards nittur. after few minutes , the moment every one waiting for had arrived or we arrived there. the 'Launch' . we and our minibus got into the lauch for a short ride in sharavati backwaters and back on the road again. after few minutes we were waiting for a Jeep which would take us to Hill top in nittur . After having breakfast No.2 , a jeep was finally ready to take us to our final destination for the day , None of us knew what was in store on our way . We were there for trek and there we were travelling in a jeep. but something was striking in my mind , we had to trek and y r v travelling in jeep and those words came out of my mouth " this jeep might not be able to take all of us to hill top " and oh boy i had to repent for what i had said later . we had covered 10% of the climb on hill with a chilling scare and on one of the curve , the driver asked us to get down as jeep cannot pull all of us in . we put all our baggages in jeep and this is how our actual trek to kodachadri started . but we had to take rest for long time soon . The jeep where our baggages are being carried stopped in between due to some problem. Pushing jeep and trying to start also did not help. Now we had to trek with our backpacks
and some how we managed to do so for a while . Luckily we got signal on our mobiles and we were able to call a jeep which picked us and made sure we all reached hill top safely. a nice lunch @ uday's home and a cool nap followed.now we were ready for the day's activity. we trekked through the jungle to reach a small water fall where we took bath and proceeded towards Lord Ganesha Idol in the entrance of a cave . Furthur climb took us to 'sarvagna peetha' and from there we had to climb down to reach 'chitra koota' ( correct me here if i am wrong ) where we were expecting to see a nice sunset and we did see one.
spent a while there and started back our journey . already it was getting dark and by the time we came back to sarvagne peetha , it was complete dark and we had to trek back to uday's home in moon light and we managed to do so successfully . Got chance to listen and sing few good songs on our way.
We had few more hours before we go to bed . we watched Dr. Rajkumar movie in TV and later switched to Carrom for entertainment . then something was about to happen which we wont forget very soon . 'The Entertainer' Kulkarni and every one's favourite 'ThammaNNa' ( Aditya ) got together and then.... pishkya bishkya bishkya

change is must or is it ?

it's been about 25 years since i came to earth . so ? . i am not born to be great and no one is expecting great things from me , so it's ok even if i donot do anything speical. hmmmm . is it fine ? . Sometimes i think i am living a boring life . i need to change something . ok , i'll change , but what should i change ? . is it ok if i change my tooth paste ? nah! , i change it almost every month. how bout my two wheeler ? oh boy! thatz goin to cost me a lot ;) . change the company i a.... hsssh ;) , nothing mentioning about that here . thatz supposed to be secret . what am i left with ? or errrrrr! y should i even change . actually i am happy what ever i am , only thing i might need to do is manage time properly . Yeah! that should help me to a great extent. brilliant . from now onwards i will manage my time properly and perfectly . saying this to my self i started writing this blog investing few of my precious ( :D ) moments . now i am thinking of walking proud as i 'utilized' time :).

the wait is still not over . India was defeated 7-1 in an away match against saudi arabia after leading 1-0 in first part of first half and no good result later in home too . India lost to Japan 3-0 in Bangalore . I had been to see that match , it's again the same , the way Indians played , it looked as though they are just a whisker away from that goal we are waiting , but that moment was not to be seen . There were couple of exiting moments for Indian's . But still Japan went on to win the match. Hoping to see the rise of Indian football soon. But as of now let's cheer for India in Champion's Trophy 2006 :) .

new hope :)

Indian Football team played really well , but final score does not say so . India Lost to Saudi Arabia 3 - 0 in AFC qualifier match played in Kolkota . That's not gud news to us. India Lost 'again'. But , whoever saw that match could feel the defnite improvement in Team India's performance.
India Lagged first half by 2 - 0 , but the impressive part was second half. Had Manjeet singh converted more than couple of chances he got into goal , we could have equalised with them . Couple of shots hit the woodwork . one by Baichung Bhutia and another by Sukumar. A regular football follower could have said those were some of the best shots on Goal , which missed by few inches and those who play football regularly would realise how difficult it would be to cover those few inches.
A bit of experience and luck could have got us home safely that day. At the end of the day India Lost , but gave us new hope of improved performance in the near future.
India will play couple of International matches in next 2-3 months, next being against Saudi Arabia on September 6 2006 . one more will be played in our very own Bangalore city on October 11 against Japan . Let's wish the Best for Team India for upcoming matches.

Dream or what !!!!!!

when i stepped out of the train , it was around 9:30 PM Local time . i cannot remember exact time as my wrist watch stopped working during my journey till here . the station was all deserted but for one or two people who were rushing outside and disappeared. i had to carry my heavy luggage outside 'myself'. no 'coolie' to be seen there.

strange !! you have to climb up to go out from there . all travel and hunger had made me tired. and it was very chilling but fresh out there. somehow i managed to climb some steps only to find out that i have to climb down again after walking a bit. even i managed to do that :) . hoping some one outside will help me find my destination , i walked out only to find the place deserted. couple of people waiting there , probably for Bus. i thought of catching a bus , but , i dunno where to get down. i realised what a big mistake i had made , forgot to note down my friend's number living there. but i did not have coins to make a call from station phone. luckily i still remember the street name where i had to go . thought of calling a taxi . but .... none to be seen !!! what next ????

still amongst all these i was happy to be there . it was all sort of dream . i used to pinch myself every few minutes for past few hours. oh my god! this is indeed real!!!! .

one more thing. i was not alone !!! . all through i was accompanied by Ram :) .he lit a cigerate ( i am sort of non smoker ;) ) and checked from couple of people standing there and gave me gud news that cab's frequently come there. cab???. finally after a wait of around 20 min a 'cab' was there . cab driver did not said anything , he helped us put the luggage in the car, he sat in his seat and we said we want to go to 'lapwing close'. more than 10 hour long journey from 'Bangalore' to 'Bristol' ended there. traveling in the cab watching the clean and beautiful roads out there, i was wondering is this dream or what !!!!!

Target reached!!!!

Plan was to get up by 4 AM and start. but , started with bad news. No WATER. by the time water started to come and we start our rest of the journey , we had delay of around 2 hours already . i was the last one to leave after being blasted by Nitin :D . next stop @ police check post where we had to buy 'ticket' to continue rest of the trekking which was very near from that place. next few minutes of trek was comparitively easier . cool breeze all around and with that kinda climate around u never will get tired. we decided to have breakfast , dry 'avalakki'. ( yummy , one of the best ever breakfast so far ).
we saw a huge peak to climb . assuming at the end we will find our destination , 'peak of kumaraparvatha', we started with great enthu. by now both manjus started exhausting . they were deciding a pont from where they want to get back to bhatra mane . we ecountered a small mantap there . that was the place where both manjus decided no more furthur will they walk . we were 8 now. we got information from people climbing down that peak is still very far. just a thought flashed in our mind whether we should continue or go back . we decided to continue. there was no jungle/forest we encountered since morning. all we saw was few green/dry grasses all around. standing at the edge of one of the cliffs we had a photo session . from there we saw a peak . we decided that's the 'one' . by the time we reached there everyone was completely exhausted, but all were happy to reach there . but that was only for a moment . vinnyk said thatz not the peak . from there we were seeing one more peak seemed miles away from us. none had the courage to say let's continue while being completely exhausted. some how we were not ready to go back from here. we decided to continue and not stop till we reach the 'kp's' peak.

we had to walk through dense jungle again , some time the path was just next to cliff , one wrong step then 'bye bye'. at one place in the jungle , we stopped had some refreshment ( glucose powder and some juice vinnyk had got). once the forest ended , we had to climb a rock which was inclined . after that we were seeing the peak . five minutes later we were at the peak . on top 'kumaraparvatha'. Highest peak in karanataka ( correct me if i am wrong ). guess what we were getting full signal there . call dear ones ;) from there. once again snap session on the top. there was a small temple made of stones and there is a belief that of u build a peak of stones

now we realised that we were hungry and started climbing down. nothing much happened while climbing down till bhatra mane exept we were extremely tired and found manjus missing ( we assumed they had reached bhatra mane ) . after a nice lunch and a nice sleep for few minutes under shades of coconut tree ;) , we were all set to return from there . Thanked 'bhatru' and started climbing down again , same route and less number of breaks we were at the foot of the hill in next 2 hours. measure my weight . reduced by 1.5 KG .

Had a nice bath @ the hotel and headed for temple . after having 'darshan' of 'lord subramanya ', we went to a hotel near by , had dinner. Buns. everyone was talking about that , a speical dish from mangalore . so we bought some freshly made buns to eat during our journey back to bangalore. ( of course no one ate it in bus , that was breakfast, lunch and evening snax for me, raghumama, kummi and Nitin ). Now we were heading to vinnyk's house from where we were to board bus for Bangalore. after a small night trek ;) ( from vinnyk's house to road ) , we boarded the bus which would take us to Bangalore .

Finally the dream vinnyk made us weave had come true. we came back from there with one more dream , climb the mountain again . this time from Madakeri side and get down from Kukke end. which is scheduled to come true somewhere around december 2006.

we started to climb ....
wait ..... before we started climbing we went to 'Lord Subramanya' Temple for 'darshan' of the lord and next few hours promised to be exciting ......

we had to walk some distance to reach mountain base . and due to scorching sun people were already getting tired before trekking started. everyone had to carry water bottle as no water source was there till u reach 'giri gadde' . the plan was every one will carry 2 litre water bottle , and everyone did. kudos to shekhi , he was very generous to 'donate' water he was carrying when ever some one was thirsty. so 'kind' of him .

mountain base . from here no looking back ( atleast as of now we thought ) . the whole bunch of people was rushing full of josh n enthu . not for long though . there should be some decipline . thatz the one basic rule we always follow while we are involved in trekking activity. so no more rushing now. everyone will follow one another in a single line . vinnyk will be heading the group and he will be first and shyam bhai was the last. but dunno y shyam was very unwilling to stay last ( of course no one would like to last in the line ) . perhaps he thought if he came last some one would nab him from behind. and there started our slogan . which started there and lasted till end our trekking event and even after that!!! . started by vinnyk promoted and made popular by shekhi , very famous " bin tere bin tereeh ....."

and we started continuing ;) . mitwa and dodda manja were climbing with full josh . soon our 'descipline' went for a toss. the group scattered. Shekhi was kind enough to 'donate' water to others which he was carrying. resting every 10 minutes we were continuing . as we were resting one more group just flashed past us . now our comment was " we also had same energy when we were in college . now that we are software engineers , we've lost that energy ( in other words we have become uncle's )".

having delicious unripe mangoes in between our trek where ever we stop for 'rest' , we continued. very eager to find bhatra mane and no where to be seen we were exhausted. consoling ourselves that we will reach there just after 'that' peak , we crossed several peaks. it was already time for sunset . and we wanted to reach our that day's destination before sunset. and there we saw a small 'thota' and yes we were near 'girigadde bhatra mane' . we were half way through our trek.

we dumped our backpack's in the house and went to a nearby peak to enjaai the sunset. yeah it was beautiful indeed :). Sat there watching sun going down in between mountains , appreciation of nature poured in. when darkness started covering and sun was gone , we realised . " we were hungry". we rushed back to bhatra mane only to find that it will take few more minutes to make the food ready. we came back to the peak spent few more minutes enjoying the nature ( in dark ??) . had some nice food 'anna' 'sambhar' and found ourselves place to sleep in bhatra mane . soon everyone was asleep . zzzzzzzzzzzz

Finally Kukke ....

Long long ago...... Vinnyk promised us to take to his home town and arrange for a trekking event. That was to kukke subramanya , Kumara Parvatha ......
Promise are always meant to be broken . When ever i reminded Mr.vinnyk he used to reply " Ok boss , lets decide who all will be coming ." " i can get many people , but we wont have fun if we go in large number " and finally " we can't make it this time , i am busy at office or i've got to attend a function at uncle's place " .
I was wondering how come our vinnyk became family man . finally, time had come and gace vinnyk oppurtunity to keep his promise . Bingo vinnyk .

we were all set.

13 people were ready to go . Wait a minute did i say 13 ??? . there were some cancellation of course and finally 10 people started.
In bus after fixing the bug ( push back feature for the seat not working ) we started from Bangalore. then sleep . zzzzzz.............

found bus stopped some where in between , dunno what was the time . it was near a Hotel , some decided to eat and some decided to have some tea.

The hotel wala does not know about the great 'half tea' . First i asked him give 2 half tea's he did not understand . then i asked him to give 1 Full assuming that we will share it . there was huge 'queue??( if u call it one )' .
vinnyk had one Full Tea , shekhi had one 'Full' Tea. me n raghu mama had some idli's and bus was about to leave and then second round zzzzzzzz........

Got up arnd 6 ( i don remember exact time though ) we were very near to kukke , i was sitting next to vinnyk , i woke him up to make sure we did not missed kukke ;) while we were still asleep and there comes the confirmation from vinnyk " we are near and will be there in next 20 min " .

and there we landed ( plz don ask me time i don remember ) and we were heading towards hotel rooms already booked . after small walk we were there " Karthikeya " it was . that was the lodge's name .

Now we had to make a decision . either go to river to take bath or take bath in lodge . there were some mixed opinion's but majority won . we were heading towards river in next 20 min ;) .

a nice walk ...., early morning , chilling atmosphere .... coool breeze and ... wait a minute. that was what i thought . actually it was not that chilling and there was no cool breeze , but i bet every one enjoyed that little long walk .

Near river again there was discussion . where to swim ( by the way there was not enough water for swimming ) some people got into water near the bridge ( alas! i don have pic of that bridge ) . some opted to go a little far from bridge ( perhaps they din had macho body to show off ;) ).
well people were enjoying 'water sports' none were ready to come out of water and were forced to come out only after vinnyk's dad came . next stop Hotel again. ( i mean lodge ) and guess what!! vinnyk was our driver :) .

came back to hotel , took few minutes to get ready stuffed ourselves in the jeep and started from there to our destination.
No no . not kumaraparvatha yet . To vinnyk's house! :) .

He always used to tell me how his house is in 'Gopalapura' , right in between jungle surrounded by 'thotha' and the way he used to get down in between jungle and walk alone towards his house in pitch dark ( u need to travel a little distance to reach his house from main road ) scaring each and every one in bus. he would have scared them more if he had started walking with candle in his hand ;)) . any wez i could not wait any more to see his house and the time had come.

suddenly jeep took right turn from the main road and started traveling through the forest there was a small road , which finally lead us to vinny's house.
we were welcomed by a cute little kitten and very shy and sweet little girl 'savi' ( vinnyk's uncle's daughter ) and very nice family of vinnyk , each

one always smiling and always trying to make us
feel comfortable ( of course we were very comfortable ;) ).
and we had breakfast of our life time .
'idli chutney' and 'savige'. ( i told vinnyk several times to get the same idli parcel but he never did).
we went inside vinnyk's 'thotha' for few minutes and some were planing to cancel the trek and stay there only for two days and get back to Bangalore. but soon they were about to realize that it was very fortunate for them not to take that decision.

and finally we decided to take off from there ( our main motto , kumara parvatha trek ;) ) . of course it was after a warm send off from vinnyk's family and foto session.

vinnyk's dad dropped us near our hotel and there we were all packed up and after a litght breakfast ( yeah again ) we were ready......

Nothingz right

Full josh!! , that was how i opened an account in this site and for two days then i was all pumped up to scribble all things i want to . whether it is time constraint or loss of interest , i could'nt pile in a single letter. now josh is sort of back.............. ;-) .
